Duties include:

• Manage all payables for the Sandy Temporary Housing hotel and master lease programs
• Manage all utility contracts and pay monthly utility invoices
• Liaise with individual hotels or landlords to manage financial details of each client’s housing
• Maintain complete in-house financial records for every client’s placement and payables
• Collaborate with NYDIS’ Housing Case Workers track and maintain required documentation

    Qualifications include:

Duties include:

• Serve as NYDIS’ senior chaplain, providing spiritual care to the staff, clients, and the public
• Collaboration with senior staff and volunteer chaplains to provide day-to-day management of all emotional and spiritual care (ESC) programs, including NYDIS’ Disaster Chaplain and Mental Health First Aid programs.
• Manage NYDIS’ volunteer disaster chaplain cadre of over 300 training and vetted spiritual caregivers
• Develop a supervisor cadre to manage volunteer chaplains during deployments.
• Regularly coordinate disaster chaplain, mental health first aid, and other ERC related training courses.
• Represent NYDIS at faith sector events as well as during government and VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) meetings regarding crisis/disaster chaplaincy or emotional & spiritual care initiatives.
• Liaise and collaborate with other chaplaincy organizations and networks
• Respond to city-wide events impacting or being responded to by the NYC faith sector.

    Qualifications include:

• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in chaplaincy (Board Certified Chaplain, First Responder, Disaster Military, and/or Trauma Chaplain experience preferred).
• Demonstrate a high degree of competence in caregiving to anyone of any nationality, race, religion, belief, class, gender identity, sexual orientation or any other special needs population.
• Experience in coordinating and leading trainings for clergy and other religious caregivers.
• Possess a working knowledge of the FEMA Incident Command System and first responder culture.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, in person and on the phone.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout New York City – and, as needed, the metro region.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours (the occasional evening or weekend).

• A graduate degree (or equivalent) from an accredited divinity school or seminary
• A minimum of 1 Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from an ACPE accredited program

• Working knowledge of the National VOAD Spiritual Care Points of Consensus & Guidelines preferred.
• Written endorsement from the religious body with authority over your ministry/credentials during vetting

• 20 hours Per week dedicated to External Partnerships & 20 hours dedicated to Temporary Housing Services
• Manage the day-to-day operations of New York State VOAD, in collaboration with the Chair/Board. Including both administrative and programmatic duties.
As needed, represent NYDIS and NYVOAD at preparedness meetings, coordinative bodies, and resiliency coalitions active in local, state and federal partners.
Facilitate leadership and risk communication between NYVOAD and its member organizations and National VOAD – as well as other response/recovery coalitions across the state.
Maintain all organizational governance and communications records.
Support active NYVOAD Committees and assist in development of needed Committees.
Learn and serve as a subject matter expert on all NYDIS Temporary Housing Program “Master Lease” housing program requirements and processes.
Coordinate with landlords to insure clients have clean and fully functional living space.
• Follow up with placed families, ensure clients follow guidelines while in NYDIS “Master Lease” units.

CHIEF FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

Reporting to the Executive Vice-President (EVP), the CFAO will manage effective financial systems and contract/grant compliance, including financial, accounting, legal, information technology (IT), human resources (HR), and office administration functions.

Responsibilities include:
• Collaborate with the EVP to manage NYDIS’ finances and administration
• Supervise the work of NYDIS’ finance staff
• Manage accounting, compliance and reporting for NYDIS’ grants and contracts
• Direct staff responsible for accounts receivable and payable
• Regularly provide budget and cash flow reports for the executive and program staff
• Execute regular reconciliations for NYDIS banking and credit card accounts
• Coordinate budgeting and program funding with program directors

Full-Time Sandy Recovery Position - Immediate Availability

HOTEL PLACEMENT COORDINATOR

NYDIS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit faith-based federation of faith communities, human services
providers and charitable organizations who work in partnership to provide disaster readiness, response, and recovery services to New York City.

Reporting to the Housing Program Manager, the Coordinator will manage placement agreements with local six local hotels - in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Placing clients in those properties on an emergency basis. The coordinator will be responsible for intake and and tracking client data in compliance with contracts and finance office personnel - and, support other housing placement needs as instructed.

Duties include:
• Learn and serve as a subject matter expert on all program requirements and processes
• Manage development of this new resource for clients in need of emergency hotel housing during their homes Rebuild or Elevation caused by Hurricanes Sandy.
• Respond in person to make emergency placements and ensure client’s and their families are assisted in moving into hotel placements rapidly when requests are received - including transportation, clothing and essential personal items - also, access to food and/or medicine.
• Coordinate rotating 24/7 on-call shifts to ensure program availability for emergency placements
• Develop relationships with contracted hotels and take responsibility for preparing room contracts.
• Maintain updated list for all families in emergency hotel placements, working closely with case workers to ensure shortest reasonable stay and smooth transition to temporary rental housing
• Follow up with placed families, ensure clients follow program guidelines while in hotel rooms.
• Coordinate with finance staff to implement strong financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance with all contract and program requirements
• Track and report data accurately; ensure service targets are met

Reporting to the Housing Recovery Operations Director, the Supervisor will manage intake, assessments and support placement for clients in need of hotel or rental leases and client placements in the metropolitan New York City area. Coordinating client’s intake, temporary housing stay and return home while displaced while their Hurricane Sandy damaged homes are rebuild or elevated. The Supervisor will be responsible case assignments, coordination with housing staff for placements and tracking client data in compliance in accordance with contracts and finance office personnel.

Duties include:
• Provide overall direct supervision, training and program compliance for 4-8 Housing Caseworkers
• Learn and serve as a subject matter expert on all program requirements and processes
• Coordinate services with all housing programs and staff - including hotel and rental housing programs
• Supervise day-to-day assessments and case work offered to clients by caseworkers at four service sites in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island – including regular onsite supervision.
• Learn program requirements and intake/data tracking processes and ensure Housing Caseworker have and provide correct information to applicants and track their unmet needs.
• Ensure Caseworkers maintain complete and thorough case files for all applicants

Caseworker services will be offered during client’s temporary housing placements while displaced from their Hurricane Sandy-damaged homes during rebuild or elevation. Caseworkers are responsible for tracking client data in compliance with contracts and finance office personnel. All applicants must be willing to work in the field Monday-Saturday with occasional weekend and evening duties. Occasional travel within the NYC area will be required.

Duties include:
• Conduct client intakes and client assessments over the phone
• Manage a caseload of 30-40 clients seeking temporary housing during rebuild or elevation

Reporting to the Chief Response Officer, the Director will supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of NYDIS’ Temporary Housing Program – including, housing case work, hotel placement services and apartment/house rental programs in the metropolitan New York City area. This program provides services and housing to clients in NYDIS’ contracted hotels or leased properties while their Hurricane Sandy damaged homes are rebuild or elevated. The Director will serve as the senior program officer over these programs and their staff. The Director will be the point of contact for all partner agencies and collaborate with senior staff to meet all contract compliance and program objective. And, be the principle author of all contract reports in collaboration with the Chief Finance and Administrative Officer.

Duties include:
• Learn and serve as a subject matter expert on all program requirements and processes
• Manage all housing programs and program staff – including hotel and rental housing programs
• In collaboration with the Chief Response Officer, coordinate day-to-day program objectives and outcomes with program counterparts within NYC government and non-profit partners

DISASTER CASE MANAGER (BI-LINGUAL ENGLISH-SPANISH)

NYDIS is seeking full-time Disaster Case Managers (DCM).  DCM will be based both at the NYDIS offices near Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan and NYC evacuee service centers. DCM will be responsible for helping evacuees of the 2017 Hurricanes in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in accessing disaster recovery resources, including the NYC Unmet Needs Roundtable. The DCM will report to the Moderator (Director) of the NYC Sandy Unmet Needs Roundtable (UNR). All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Duties include:
• Assess for outstanding unmet needs related to the impact of the 2017 Hurricanes on evacuees to New York City from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Connect clients to existing nonprofit and government services for resources and referrals
• Assist clients in developing a recovery plan that meets their individual long-term recovery goals
• Submit cases to the Unmet Needs Roundtable for both emergency assistance and sustainable recovery needs
• Maintain and track an active caseload of approximately 35 client households
