NYC House of Worship Climate Ready Audit Program
Program Overview
Over ½ of NYC’s 5000 houses of worship (HOWs) serve under-resourced neighborhoods and are essential partners in the effort to strengthen local climate resiliency across the city.
With funding from Con Edison’s Climate Justice Signature Grant Program and in collaboration with Green City Force, NYDIS is pleased to make available FREE Climate Ready Audits to protect NYC HOWs against climate vulnerabilities, improve efficiency, and save money.
The HOW Climate Ready Audit is a guided, faith building “walk-through” inspection, performed by Green City Force, for your house of worship. The audit will help identify opportunities for energy efficiency, extreme weather protections, and other building resiliency improvements. The audit also acts as a green workforce training opportunity for Green City Force Service Corps Members.
Upon completion of the audit, participating congregations will receive an audit-findings report and be eligible for a $1500 grant towards building improvements.
This program opportunity is limited to 75 NYC HOWs, serving under-resourced communities, representing a diversity of faith and spiritual traditions and denominations across all 5 boroughs.
APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE IN SUMMER 2025!
