Pa’lante Puerto Rico – Stories of Recovery

NYDIS and our Pa’Lante Puerto Rico project with Luna Lauren Velez partnered with Jonathan William Soto’s new Project Refuge and the Thrive Collective to co-sponsor a Preparedness & Resilience day for the community of Barrio Playa in the Municipio Añasco Puerto Rico.
Events included a preparedness training and community resilience forum. A local artists project to paint murals of the transformation of this small one road in/our community since Maria cut it off from any help for several weeks. Children’s art projects and chess lessons. A local college offered instruction in how each home can grow potted, garden, or rooftop garden vegetables. As well as the distribution of donated home goods and biodegradable/environmentally friendly hygiene/cleaning supplies.
